Nancy O'dell Turns 45, Feb 25: Happy Birth Day

She also hosted Nashville Star on the USA Network during its first two seasons (2003-2004), and has made appearances on several sitcoms and other television series over the past decade

Nancy O'Dell was born Nancy Humphries on February 25, 1966, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She entered South Carolina's Clemson University in 1985, where she majored in marketing and joined the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. In 1987, she won the Miss South Carolina pageant, and graduated from Clemson summa cum laude in 1989.

Following graduation, Nancy started out as a reporter and anchorwoman at WPDE-TV in Myrtle Beach. Her next gig was at WCBD-TV in Charleston, S.C., where she was a morning news anchor and crime reporter. After that, she was hired as anchor and investigative reporter for Miami's NBC affiliate, WTVJ-TV. She became Nancy O'Dell when she married Richard O'Dell, a doctor, during these years. The couple eventually divorced.

In 1995, O'Dell joined the syndicated A Current Affair team as their entertainment reporter for one season. When Access Hollywood debuted in 1996, she was hired as a correspondent, and eventually promoted to cohost in January of 1999.

In addition to her work on Access Hollywood, O'Dell began making cameo appearances in films and television series, usually playing either herself or a reporter of some sort. In 1997, she portrayed a journalist interviewing Tori Spelling in Scream 2; in 1998, she played a police officer on the daytime drama General Hospital.

Nancy was busy at the outset of 1999, appearing as herself on Beverly Hills, 90210 and as Arianna on Just Shoot Me! in January. In May, she played a reporter on The Pretender, a good Samaritan on Melrose Place and a weatherperson on Charmed.

November found her guesting as Cassie on Malcolm & Eddie, and providing her voice for the "Hello Gutter, Hello Fadder" episode of The Simpsons. She also appeared on The Bachelor that same year.

The roles continued in 2000, when she appeared as a reporter in Scream 3 and on the small screen's V.I.P. and Third Watch. In 2001, Nancy played Nurse Lisa on two episodes of Cursed. She landed her first costarring film role the following year, portraying diabolical heart surgeon Dr. Drake in the indie feature Outta Time. That same year, she appeared as Audrey Simms on three episodes of the daytime serial Days of Our Lives, and as herself on Charmed.

Nancy was nominated for the Publicist Guild of America's Press Awards, which recognizes excellence in entertainment reporting, in 1999 and 2000. In addition to reporting on the major entertainment industry awards, she also began hosting the specials which led up to the events. In 1999, she hosted the Emmy's pre-show on Fox, and again for ABC in 2000. She's also acted as cohost of the Golden Globes arrivals show, along with Dick Clark, and has cohosted both the Hollywood Christmas Parade and the Tournament of Roses Parade on NBC.

Nancy served as both host and consulting producer of Nashville Star, a country music talent competition on the USA Network, which premiered in March of 2003. She left after the show's second season in 2004 due to scheduling conflicts, and was replaced by singer LeAnn Rimes.

Also in 2004, she appeared as herself in the pilot episode of Joey, then cohosted the NBC special Christmas in Rockefeller Center and the Miss USA Pageant. She repeated her hosting duties for Miss USA 2005 and Miss Universe 2005.

In June of 2005, Nancy got hitched for a second time to business executive Keith Zubchevich at the Bacara Resort and Spa in Santa Barbara, California. The couple had met the year before while waiting to board a plane at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank. They wrote their own wedding vows and were married by Nancy's uncle. The best men were Zubchevich's two sons, Tyler, aged 10, and Carson, 6.
